Brigitte Bardot Inspired Brunch on Ruffled

Styled by Mandy Forlenza Sticos Photography by Jen Trahan

What would a brunch be like if hosted by the fashionably French, life-long vegetarian and original bohemian, Brigitte Bardot?  This is it:  A sweet soirée filled with fresh flowers, brie, rosemary and fig toast, a little bubbly and a homemade cake topped with daisies, of course.

This was a fun project with some great folks (credits below) featured on Ruffled this week!

Rylee Hitchner Photography Flowers + Styling by Mandy Forlenza Sticos

For installment four of Table Top Tuesday, I am sharing my own little creation photographed by the uber talented Rylee Hitchner at the recent Joy Thigpen Workshop.  I created this centerpiece the day before the photographs were taken and it was looking a little limp, so we decided to pair it with my favorite accessories – dishes, glassware, flatware and a cloth napkin!  I love the way it turned out in the photographs, so soft and dreamy.  Thanks Rylee!

What makes this work?  For me, it’s the soft tones captured on Rylee’s film photography (I heart film) and the abundance of textured pieces I chose for the centerpiece.

What details make a difference?  Those tony blue berries on a slate grey napkin pull it together!  Thanks to Joy for loaning a vintage handkerchief from your kit to make it happen at 7:00am before we all departed for home!

My personal photographs from Joy’s workshop can be found here, in case you missed it.

Style Me Pretty Feather + Stone Photography

For installment two of Table Top Tuesday, I am swooning over this light and airy table scape styled by Victoria Cameron in Australia.

What makes this work?  The casually tied asymmetrical napkin and matte gold flatware are stand-outs for me.   The cut crystal glassware trio looks luminous paired with neutral color pallet.

What details make a difference?  The centerpiece.  I adore the juxtaposed soft dusty miller (in color + texture) paired with dark wild blackberries.  It’s an unexpected, yet lovely, detail.  For the full table scape, the grey sheer fabric runner tied casually, similar to the napkins, keeps the overall look soft and dreamy!

Inspiration: Herbs

herb bouquet and book

I am drawn over and over to images that have rosemary, thyme and sage.  These herbs are the perfect natural accent to weddings.  Whether in a bouquet, flower girl’s hair wreath, place setting or drink garnish, I will never get enough of herbs as an organic detail.  It’s perhaps the original vintage wedding idea.

Style Me Pretty Table Top by Jose Villa

Today I am starting a weekly series featuring some of my favorite table top designs for events!  I hope to provide some tips and inspiration for your next gathering. This inspiration shoot is one of my favorite ever and with an amazing list of talent (further below) it’s obvious why this is so spectacular.

What makes this work?  The mismatched patterned flatware adds just enough elegance and interest against the rustic wood table.  The same applies to the assorted patterned pressed glassed goblets.  Three goblets in classic clear glass is rich looking and the difference in size and pattern brings this design a step above.

What details make a difference?  The all white + greens arrangement helps punch up the monochromatic place setting and the hand written calligraphy escort card and menu provide guests with a sense of honor as if one would ask; was that written for little old me?
